Tom and Grandpa are off on the train to Blueberry Hill. On the train they make new friends with Maisie and her Grandma. Spotty Raffe and Ellie Phant also enjoy the day but what if they had been left behind?
Reviews:
"A beautifully illustrated book about a train trip for Tom and Maisie accompanied by toys, Spotty Raffe and Nellie Phant, a Granny and a Grandpa. This story of friendship is warm and gentle with so much detail the children will always find something new."
The Scotsman
"Utterly delightful."
Angels and Urchins
"With a bouncy rhyming text and slightly old fashioned feel, the story of Tom and Maisie's ride on a steam train has calm appeal. The leitmotif of favourite toys being forever forgotten and returned gives gentle tension and cohesion to the story. Illustrator Andrew Gordon is someone to watch. His work has style, originality and flair. His rich colour palette and lively painterly brush strokes enhance this story and the bold compositions lead the eye to fresh delights. This train book is right on time."

Small Knight and George
Illustrated by Arthur Robins
ISBN 9781846163777
HB 2007, PB 2008
Small Knight doesn’t want to fight a dragon, he wants to play kick-a-ball with his friends. But fighting fierce dragons is a job for brave knights according to Small Knight’s father. So off goes Small Knight on his very large horse.
Reviews:
"This is a rollicking but tender story about expectations and bravery. Small Knight, accompanied by his equally little dragon George, sets off on a bold adventure to get treasure to mend the castle. They need all their courage to come face to face with the deadly Captain Swashmebuckle. There are shivery fears for the small adventurers and their readers before all ends surprisingly happily."
Julia Eccleshare
The Guardian
“This picture-storybook could well reach a wide audience. The exuberant illustrations are fun as is the nonsense of the well-told storyline which is likely to make many friends.”
School Librarian.
"My son and I loved the follow up book ‘Small Knight and George and the Royal Chocolate Cake’ so I bought this book too. Small Knight is set the task of fighting a fierce dragon; instead he meets George and takes him home. Fabulous books, well written and the illustrations are superb. There is a consistency in structure between the two Small Knight books that makes them tie together perfectly. When my son has a tantrum I just start reading one of them aloud and he comes and cuddles up next to me quietly and listens. Magic!"

From Miranda aged seven years:
Dear Ronda Armitage
Thank you for reading The Very Strange Creature. It was very funny.
Did you know that our teacher is having a WA-AAAAA? She doesn’t know that the W-AAAA will be a boy or a girl. Her W-AAAA is going to be born in the year of the dragon.
I remember when my sister was first born she was a very little W-AAAA.
Love from M.
